Coffee is one of the greatest mood boosters, but naps are even better. We all know someone who stays up all night and wakes up moody in the morning. A cup of coffee seems to be doing the trick, but it is not a long-term solution. Moreover, it keeps you awake in the morning, and may even cause insomnia. Drinking too much coffee gives you anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia.
Naps are a much better alternative. Do not drink another cup of coffee in the afternoon and have a nap.
Naps are safer and better than coffee
If you cannot stay awake in the office, do not go for your third or fourth cup of coffee. A short nap can help you stay alert. A 2015 study has shown that short naps improve immunity as they reverse the symptoms of sleep deprivations. Have a nap to refresh your body and mind. The best part of it is the fact that it is not accompanied with any side effects. But, remember, you have to get your 8-hour sleep at night.
There is still one problem about the whole nap thing. Offices are not really designed for sleeping. Have you ever seen an office with a sleeping corner in it? Napping in your chair is impossible and it will give you a terrible ache in the neck or the back. Moreover, it is banned in most offices. Employees are not allowed to bring any mattresses, pillows or blankets to the office.
Greek designer, Nancy Leivaditou, of Studio NL, created the perfect solution for this problem. Her design will help employees around the world nap without disturbing the interior of their office. Leivaditou experienced the hectic life in New York as employee and student. She had problems with her alertness, and decided to change that. Her invention is a smart idea for every employee out there. The creation can turn into a bed withing a second, and yes, it has a TV, too. The nap desk fits well in offices and homes.
You get a furniture piece that is 2 meters long and 0.8 meters wide. That’s how it got its name: 1.6 sqm of Life. The nap desk is not available yet, but you will probably be able to buy it in near future.
The Nap Desk
The “desk part” is made from lacquered wood, and the mattress is attached to one side. The pieces for your head and feet are made from plywood, and you can recline them as you wish.
Turning your desk into a bed takes a minute! Just slide the lacquered board backward from your position while pushing back the mattress. Enjoy your comfy bed!
Extra tip: The nap desk can turn into the most comfortable bed you have ever slept on. Set your alarm or you will end up on the streets for sleeping a few hours in the office.
