As soon as the study was completed the results showed somewhat staggering. Namely, research confirmed that children who had a sister for a sibling, had the chance to live a less troubling adolescent life. In addition, the study revealed that while siblings fought a lot,they also found a way to control both their negative behavior and emotional outbursts.
“Even after you account for parents’ influence, siblings do matter in unique ways,” said Padilla-Walker, a teacher in the field, “They give kids something that parents don’t.” Normally, what siblings provide for one another is a sense of being accepted and equal to someone and being understood by someone closer to your generation.
Having a Sister Boosts the Self-Confidence and Prevents Loneliness
Having siblings is great if you want to share your troubles with someone who is generally on your side. Sisters, in particular, are great comforters, nurturers and initiate positive thinking in their siblings.
With that, sisters can help eradicate symptoms of negative thoughts, depression, loneliness, and fear. Additionally, sisters help their siblings shake off more serious growing-up problems such as:
